Kanye Gillen
“I think anyone reading this article should draw pictures of Kieron West or Kanye Gillen and post them because I think Kieron in black leather jeans and a weird Swarovski crystal beaded face mask is an amazing image.” Last week, Matt Fraction gave an interview with Comic Book Resources where he confirmed that he & the rest of the creative team would be leaving Hawkeye - issue 22 will be their final issue. Not gonna lie, that makes me pretty sad. Not that I don’t understand the value in going out on a high and leaving a run before you run out of steam, but this run of Hawkeye has been pretty special for me. The sense of humour, the characterisations, the sheer level of invention from everyone involved made it has one of my all-time favourite runs.  But I won’t review it here - I’ll probably start doing that when the final issue of Annie Wu’s Kate Bishop arc ends next wednesday. Instead, I’m offering the bizarre image above, as requested by Fraction in the interview, as a thank you for a brilliant run. And it felt appropriate, as my Brimpception .gif was prompted by a suggestion from Kieron Gillen, featuring Fraction, while this was the other way round. Sorry, Kieron :)

If I wasn’t already drinking, I would be now.

inquisgeek: This may be a stupid question but what's with the whole "none more goth" thing? I've seen you use the expression here on tumblr and in the newest issue of The Wicked + The Divine. As a side note, I only got into your work recently and absolutely loved your run on Young Avengers.

I can’t remember exactly where it emerged, actually. It’s a riff on NONE MORE BLACK bit in Spinal Tap ("It’s like, ‘how much more black could this be?’ and the answer is ‘None. None more black.’") but I’ve been shouting it so often I’d even managed to forget that.

It’s mainly so Kate Leth and I can shout back and forth on the Internet, it seems.

June Previews is out tomorrow, meaning our entirely-created-for-previews trailer story will be out in the world.

Bleeding Cool has just ran it.

And now it’s here.

Mention it to the shop if you want more.

THE WICKED + THE DIVINE
June 18th 2014

Reblogging to remind everyone that there’s another couple of weeks to pre-order The Wicked + The Divine.

Spread the word, as the ABC Warriors once said.

Another Miss America who didn’t realise who I was, yet did know the precious gender switched miss America. Apparently they went to the same high school.

Ahaha oh no. This is me. I honestly thought you were just cosplaying the 9th Doctor because you were British and it looked like you were wearing a leather jacket. I’m embarrassed forever, but it’s really funny now that I look back at it. Plus I’m honored to be on your blog since I love your work. It was really great (sort of) meeting you!

You thought. Kieron. Was cosplaying. The Doctor.

This makes me so happy. So happy.

I love this so much. SO MUCH. :D
